Approve a Domain in IncrediMail

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

IncrediMail follows a simple concept to filter spam quite effectively: good mail comes from good people. Good people are those who you know and trust while messages from any sender you have not approved yet goes straight to the Junk & Unapproved folder.

The key to efficient spam filtering in IncrediMail is an up to date list of approved senders. It's easy to approve senders after you have spotted a message from them in the Junk & Unapproved folder, but you can (and should) work proactively, too, and approve known email addresses manually to make sure as little good mail as possible ends up together with spam.

Sometimes, you will want to approve complete domains instead of individual senders. I have approved the "about.com" domain, for example, to make sure I get all the About newsletters without interruption, no matter which address (@about.com) they are sent from.

To approve a domain in IncrediMail:

  • Select Tools | Junk & Unapproved | Junk Filter Settings... from the menu.
  • Go to the Approved Domains tab.
  • Click Add....
  • Type the domain name you want to whitelist in the Domain Address: field.
    • To whitelist the about.com domain, for example, type "about.com".
  • Click OK.
  • Now click Close.
